Did Robbie Williams Really Propose to Girlfriend or Was it Just a Joke?
Did he or didn’t he? There’s no doubt that UK pop star Robbie Williams proposed to his long time girlfriend Ayda Fields live on radio last week, but did he mean it?
Ayda’s reaction to the sudden question appeared to indicate the topic is something the couple may have discussed in passing, although nothing definite has been planned.
There is no doubt that Robbie Williams is head over heels in love with Ayda who, according to him, is broody’ while he himself was ‘getting there’. Yet, he also told a caller on the radio show in question that the last lie he’s told was ‘this morning’.
Much to his fans’ relief, the official line from the Robbie Williams camp is that the couple is not engaged, with his London-based spokesman calling it a ‘joke’. This statement was bolstered by a message to the same effect posted on Robbie’s website. Cynics have considered the ‘proposal’, a ploy to garner more attention for his current album Reality Killed The Video Star.
Robbie William’s mother, Jan, was reportedly over the moon when the news was announced. She told BBC5 that Robbie had told her recently that he did indeed plan to pop the question. Saying that it was ‘about time’ for the couple to get married; they have been together for almost 3 years, Jan also thinks Ayda is a ‘great mate… and lover’.
